Australian Silver 50 Cent Coin Ring

The Australian Silver 50c Coin Ring

Product Details

The round Australian 50 cent piece was introduced at the changeover to decimal currency in Australia in 1966. It was minted in 80% silver but it was not long before the value of the silver content far outweighed the fifty cent face value and it was withdrawn from production and replaced in 1969 with the dodecagonal (12 sided) shape. Despite them being withdrawn from circulation millions of the coins were hoarded by the Australian public.

The Red Kangaroo and Emu feature on the outer band of the coin ring along with the number 50. The inner band reads "Australia 1966 Elizabeth II".

This ring has a band width of approx. 9mm. The ring pictured is a size W (US 11) your ring will look slightly different depending on what size you choose.
